China has successfully tested a novel 3D-printed turbojet engine within a flight simulation. The engine, deployed during a 30-minute test flight, demonstrated the capability of delivering a small missile-shaped target drone to a height of 6 kilometers (3.8 miles) and a speed approaching 925 kilometers per hour, equivalent to roughly three quarters the speed of sound. The test was conducted by the Chinese broadcaster CCTV. The engine’s operational parameters were verified throughout the test, showcasing its potential for rapid production and lightweight design, aligning with China’s strategic focus on advanced military technologies.
