Moglix Enters Energy Sector with New Bitumen Facility in Mathura

Rahul Garg, CEO & Founder, Moglix at the DRG Bitumen Plant

Mumbai: Moglix, a major B2B e-commerce and supply chain technology company, has announced its entry into the energy sector with the launch of a greenfield bitumen processing facility under its manufacturing arm, DRG Industries. Located in Kosi Kalan, Mathura, the facility is expected to begin commercial production this month.

The plant, spread over 3.5 acres, includes automated processing lines and high-efficiency heating systems designed to reduce environmental impact. With an installed processing capacity of more than 28,000 metric tonnes per month, it marks a significant expansion of Moglix’s manufacturing footprint and its first foray into producing road construction materials.

The facility will produce a range of high-performance bitumen products, including polymer-modified bitumen, hard binders, and microsurfacing-grade emulsions. These materials are engineered to enhance road durability, reduce maintenance frequency, and lower the environmental footprint of road construction projects.

Microsurfacing, one of the key offerings at the facility, is internationally recognized for improving road surface quality and extending pavement life, with claims of up to 44% reduction in carbon emissions compared to conventional resurfacing methods.

To tailor solutions for India’s diverse infrastructure needs, the plant also houses an in-house R&D centre focused on developing products suitable for different terrains, traffic patterns, and climate conditions.

The facility incorporates biomass-fueled, carbon-neutral boilers equipped with scrubber systems and filtration units. According to the company, this aligns with its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.

Strategically located, the plant is intended to supply road construction materials to infrastructure projects across northern and central India, including states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Punjab, with plans to cater to neighbouring markets like Nepal as well.

Beyond infrastructure, the facility is expected to contribute to local employment and support small and medium enterprises through regional vendor and contractor networks.

The development is part of Moglix’s broader plan to scale up its manufacturing capabilities in the construction materials sector across the country.
