Chemical Agents Used to Control Protesters at Border Site

Federal agents deployed chemical agents to a gathering of over 100 protesters outside the Chicago Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) building on Friday. The agents repeatedly fired the agents, which included substances like pepper spray and sodium chloride, towards the crowd. The protesters attempted to obstruct the movement of a vehicle traveling down a predetermined route. Law enforcement officials stated the action was taken to maintain order and prevent potential disruptions to the transportation of individuals. The use of these agents was deemed necessary to secure the area and ensure the safety of both personnel and the public.
