Clair’s Passing: Author’s Career Reflects Late Entry into Creative Writing

Maxine Clair, a celebrated writer whose career spanned over six decades, passed away on October 26th at the age of 86. Born in 1937, Clair initially pursued writing as a hobby, publishing her first collection of poems in 1976 at the age of 49. Following this, she completed her first novel, “Rattlebone,” published in 1981. Clair continued to write across various genres throughout her life, earning critical acclaim for her literary contributions. She was known for her unique voice and exploration of complex themes. She retired from publishing in 2007.
