CPI(M) Appeals for Refund of ₹2,758 Crore FPA Charges in Andhra Pradesh

The Communist Party of India (CPI) has expressed dissatisfaction with the recent ERC (Energy Regulatory Commission) directive to refund ₹923 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25. The CPI argues that this amount is insufficient to fully compensate consumers who have been burdened with an unjustified monthly surcharge of 40 paise per unit under the FPA (Fordable Power Purchase) scheme. The party asserts that this surcharge has resulted in increased energy costs for residents in Andhra Pradesh. CPI officials are calling for a comprehensive review of the FPA system and a swift resolution to address the financial burden on consumers.
