A spokesman for Ukraine’s military intelligence has reported over a thousand Cuban nationals contracting to fight in the Russia-Ukraine war. Andriy Yusov stated that the number of Cubans employed by the Russian military could reach as many as 39 confirmed casualties. The spokesperson cited intelligence sources suggesting these individuals are being offered a compensation package of US$2,000. The Cuban government has not officially confirmed the full extent of this recruitment effort. The situation involves Cuban citizens contributing to military operations against Ukraine.
