Deepfake Allegations: Bachchan-Rai Couple Files Lawsuit Against Google

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have initiated legal action against Google and YouTube, alleging the misuse of AI-generated deepfakes. The lawsuit, totaling Rs 4 crores, centers on the platforms’ content moderation policies, claiming they facilitate the spread of manipulated content. The complaint alleges that YouTube’s training data, utilizing deepfake technology, inadvertently amplifies the creation of harmful and sexually explicit videos. Specifically, the Bachchans claim that these deepfakes can be used to train AI models, leading to an exponential increase in the availability of infringing material. The videos hosted on channels like AI Bollywood Ishq have garnered millions of views, including digitally altered scenes depicting celebrities. The court seeks a detailed response from Google’s legal counsel. The legal battle is ongoing, with a hearing scheduled for January 15th. Abhishek Bachchan is currently preparing for his upcoming films, King and Raja Shivaji, while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has not publicly announced any forthcoming projects.
