Defamation Case Dismissed After Actor’s Absence

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s defamation suit against his brother and estranged wife, Shamasuddin Siddiqui and Anjana Pandey, was dismissed by the Bombay High Court after the actor failed to appear in court for several hearings. The court ruled the case as “non-prosecution” due to the actor’s failure to attend court dates. Accusations included Shamasuddin’s alleged misuse of Nawazuddin’s trust and the acquisition of several properties – including properties in Dubai and Mumbai – under Shamasuddin’s name. Nawazuddin claimed Shamasuddin manipulated his management, leading to false accusations and causing significant emotional distress. The court cited missed court dates and failure to pursue the case as the reason for dismissal. Nawazuddin requested damages of Rs 100 crores, a permanent ban on Shamasuddin’s posting of defamatory content, and removal of all negative content. He also sought the assets of both parties to be confiscated until he could recover damages. Nawazuddin is currently promoting his upcoming film, *Thamma*, and is expected to release it on October 21st.
