Google has introduced a new feature within its Calendar application, allowing users to effectively block off time for tasks and mark them as busy. This update expands upon the existing “Tasks” feature, enabling users to set a block of time, turn on ‘do not disturb,’ and automatically reject meeting requests. Users can specify a deadline, but only the date, currently lacking a deadline time option. This feature is available to all Workspace users, individual subscribers, and Gmail accounts. It began rolling out to Rapid Release domains on November 6th, though full rollout is expected to take until mid-December. This update may resemble the “Focus Time” feature found in other calendar applications, providing a way to manage schedules and indicate focus periods. Users can try it out by going into their Google Calendar and selecting an empty block on their calendar to test its functionality.
