The Green Brigades, a youth-led initiative based in Assam’s BTR (Brahmaputra Territorial Region), are undertaking a significant reforestation program. Volunteers are actively working to reclaim degraded urban landscapes and previously depleted forest areas. Their efforts involve the planting of native timber species, fruit-bearing trees, and medicinal and flowering plants, aiming to enhance biodiversity and ecological resilience. The brigades utilize sustainable forestry practices, promoting ecological balance and improving the overall health of the region’s natural resources. The project contributes to carbon sequestration and aims to foster a greater appreciation for the region’s natural heritage.
