Delhi: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur marked its 10th anniversary and 11th Foundation Day with the inauguration of three new facilities in the presence of Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan.
The event included the opening of a new BS Program hostel, the Rangabati Open Theatre, and a Café Hub Complex on campus. According to the institute, the additions are designed to expand student accommodation, cultural activities, and social spaces.
In his address, IIM Sambalpur Director Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal highlighted the institute’s achievements over the past decade, including the construction of a new campus in two years under budget, a climb of 16 places to rank 34th in the 2025 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), and the introduction of AI-enabled classrooms. He also noted the institute’s gender diversity, with women comprising 76% of the current second-year MBA batch, and its progress toward international “Triple Crown” accreditation.
Jaiswal also cited the Master Weavers Training Program, under which 80 weavers have been mentored and are now showcasing their products globally through digital platforms.
Addressing the gathering, Pradhan congratulated the institute and its leadership, praising its role in student development and its work with regional weavers. He awarded select students ₹1 lakh each and presented certificates to the participating weavers. He also encouraged the institute to develop a case study on Sambalpur’s cultural and historical heritage.
Other dignitaries present included Rabi Narayan Naik, Odisha’s Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water; Sambalpur District Magistrate Siddheshwar Baliram Bondar; Inspector General of Police Himanshu Kumar Lal; Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo; and Municipal Commissioner Rehan Khatri.
The ceremony also featured the felicitation of top achievers from the MBA 2024–26 batch. The vote of thanks was delivered by IIM Sambalpur Chief Administrative Officer Amrut Phalguni Mohanty.
