IIT Mandi Named University of the Year at FICCI Higher Education Awards

Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi has received two honors at the FICCI Higher Education Excellence Awards 2025 — University of the Year (Established) and Excellence in Creating Employment & Entrepreneurship. The awards were presented by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari at a ceremony in New Delhi organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).

According to the announcement, the recognition highlights IIT Mandi’s contribution to promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and employability through its academic and industry-linked ecosystem. The institute’s business incubator, IIT Mandi Catalyst, noted as India’s first technology business incubator in the Himalayas, has supported more than 400 startups, generating employment and fostering technology-driven entrepreneurship across the country.

“I dedicate this achievement to our faculty, students, and staff, whose dedication and creativity make IIT Mandi a truly transformative institution,” said Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Director of IIT Mandi. “This recognition underscores our commitment to nurturing a vibrant ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship that fuels the nation’s growth.”
