The Union National Security Council (UNSC) has rejected calls from Russia and China to delay sanctions imposed on Iran. The UNSC convened today to address escalating tensions surrounding the detained Tibetan spiritual leader, Sonam Wangchuk. The administration of Ladakh has reported that Wangchuk is currently being detained under the National Security Advisor’s (NSA) direction. The Ladakh administration asserts that the detention is a result of a politically motivated maneuver. The UNSC has stated it is monitoring the situation closely and will continue to assess the implications for regional stability.
