Bhubaneswar: In a compassionate gesture towards the millions of devotees attending the iconic Rathayatra in Puri, Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar has inaugurated a dedicated First Aid Medical Center on Beach Road, opposite Puri Hotel. The initiative, aimed at providing timely medical assistance during the world’s largest chariot festival, was officially launched by Mr. Bejoy Changarath, Unit Head – Sales & Marketing, Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar.
The center will remain operational throughout the 10-day Bahuda Yatra period, offering emergency care services to pilgrims and tourists. Staffed by a team of experienced doctors and paramedics, the facility is equipped to handle a wide range of health concerns, including heat-related illnesses, fatigue, injuries, and other emergencies that may arise during the high-footfall event.
“This initiative is a reflection of our deep-rooted belief that healthcare should not be confined within hospital walls,” said Dr. Saktimaya Mohapatra, Hospital Director, Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar. “Festivals like Rathayatra bring people together in spirit and purpose, and we are proud to support the community with accessible, quality medical care on the ground during this important event.”
In a significant upgrade to emergency response capabilities, a state-of-the-art 5G-enabled ambulance has been stationed near the center. Outfitted with advanced life-saving equipment such as defibrillators, ventilators, and patient monitoring systems, the ambulance ensures rapid stabilization and transfer of critical patients. Its high-speed connectivity supports real-time telemedicine coordination, enhancing pre-hospital care.
This initiative underscores Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar’s commitment to proactive, community-based healthcare. By extending its services beyond hospital premises, the hospital continues to demonstrate its dedication to public welfare during large-scale cultural and religious gatherings.
