MUMBAI — Mankind Pharma announced the launch of PetStar Delight, expanding its PetStar brand into the cat food category. The company said the new range is intended to support overall feline health and builds on its entry into the pet care market with PetStar dog food in 2022.
The launch comes as India’s cat food segment, valued at about ₹1,500 crore with monthly sales of ₹120 crore, is growing at an annual rate of 18–20%, according to the announcement.
PetStar Delight includes functional ingredients such as cranberry for urinary health, turmeric for immunity and digestion, and taurine for organ support. The products are manufactured in Thailand and contain no artificial colours or preservatives. The range is offered in salmon, tuna and ocean fish varieties for kittens and adult cats. Formulations for kittens aged one to 12 months contain 32% protein and 12% fat, while the adult range includes 30% protein and 10% fat.
Rajeev Juneja, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Mankind Pharma, said the expansion reflects the company’s focus on meeting the needs of pet owners. “With PetStar Delight, we are bringing the same commitment to quality, affordability and wellness… into feline nutrition,” he said.
Piyush Prashant, Vice President and Head of the Pet Food Division, said the recipes incorporate ingredients aimed at addressing common concerns for cat owners, including prebiotic beta-glucans and MOS for gut health, natural fibre for hairball control, salmon oil for brain development, choline for nerve function and yucca extract for reducing stool odour.
PetStar Delight is available in 400g, 1kg and 2.8kg packs. The 1kg pack is priced at ₹399 for kittens and ₹375 for adult cats. Mankind Pharma said the product will be launched nationwide as it strengthens its position in India’s expanding pet care market.
