Mizoram’s Railway Connection: A Landmark Achievement

Mizoram has officially inaugurated its first railway connection, marking a significant milestone in regional connectivity. The Bairabi–Sairang railway line, stretching 51.38 kilometers, connects Aizawl in the state to Silchar in Assam. This project, costing ₹5,021 crore, incorporates 48 tunnels, five major bridges, and the distinctive Bridge No. 144, a structure exceeding the height of the Qutub Minar. The railway aims to reduce travel time from ten hours by road to a mere three hours, facilitating increased accessibility and economic opportunities within Mizoram.
