A mother in New Zealand was convicted on Tuesday of murdering her two children and concealing their bodies in suitcases. Hakyung Lee, 45, was extradited from Seoul in 2022 following the discovery of remains in suitcases found at a storage unit in South Auckland. Authorities believe the children, Yuna Jo and Minu Jo, were deceased for approximately three to four years prior to their discovery. The remains were identified as belonging to the victims. The case has drawn international attention due to its nature and the lengthy period between the discovery and the identification of the remains. The prosecution argued that Lee’s actions constitute murder and a crime of great brutality.
