South Korea’s kimchi, a nationally celebrated food, is experiencing a significant surge in demand globally. According to recent trade data released by the Korea Customs Service, exports of kimchi reached US$137.39 million in January to October, representing a 2 per cent increase year-over-year. Conversely, imports of kimchi increased by 3.1 per cent, reaching US$159.46 million. This shift reflects a growing preference for kimchi across various markets. The increase in imports highlights the continued importance of the Korean food industry within the global market.
