A township in eastern Taiwan experienced significant damage following the arrival of Super Typhoon Ragasa. The typhoon triggered a devastating landslide, resulting in the deaths of at least 17 individuals. The landslide formed a mountain lake, previously dormant, and breached its banks two months prior, causing widespread destruction in Guangfu township within Hualien county. The impact has encompassed numerous residential areas, significantly impacting the region’s infrastructure and community. Authorities are currently assessing the full extent of the damage and are grappling with potential political ramifications related to the event.
