Mumbai: Union Minister Harsh Malhotra inaugurated the country’s first dual-bay robotic-assisted surgery (RAS) training centre at Yashoda Medicity in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad on Monday. The initiative is a joint effort between Yashoda Medicity and Intuitive, a global company specializing in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgical technologies.
The new training facility is designed to train healthcare professionals in robotic-assisted procedures across a range of surgical specialities, including urology, gynaecology, and general surgery. According to officials, the dual-bay setup allows simultaneous training sessions or collaborative learning, which is expected to increase capacity and efficiency in skills development.
Speaking at the launch, Malhotra emphasized the importance of technological integration in healthcare, aligning the new centre with the Government of India’s ‘Heal in India’ initiative aimed at strengthening the country’s medical infrastructure and promoting India as a global healthcare destination. The event also saw the presence of Sunil Sharma, Minister for IT and Electronics, Government of Uttar Pradesh.
Representatives from Yashoda Group of Hospitals and Intuitive stated that the centre will support standardised learning and hands-on training with a focus on improving surgical outcomes and expanding the availability of advanced procedures.
The training centre marks a step toward increasing the adoption of robotic-assisted surgery in India, with the goal of building a skilled surgical workforce equipped to meet rising demands in precision care.
