Porvorim: Goa has launched the Mahila Digital Sashaktikaran Yojana to equip women across the state, especially in underserved areas have the digital skills needed to stay connected, informed, and self-reliant.
The scheme was launched at PAC Hall Secretariat, Porvorim by Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (ITE&C) Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, in the presence of Hon’ble Chairman, Info Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd, Dr. Chandrakant Shetye, Secretary of DITE&C, Shri. Sanjeev Ahuja, Director of DITE&C, Shri Kabir Shirgaonkar, and Managing Director of Info Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd, Shri. Praveen Volvotkar.
“Through the Mahila Digital Sashaktikaran Yojana, we are taking digital literacy to the Gramin women ensuring they are equipped with the confidence and skills to navigate today’s digital world,” said Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant.
The Mahila Digital Sashaktikaran Yojana is designed to help women confidently use smartphones, access online platforms, and navigate government services. It is open to Goan women aged 18 and above who have resided in the state for at least 15 years. Training will be delivered through empanelled ITKCs, Common Service Centres (CSCs) and Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) at local venues such as panchayat halls, schools, and community spaces.
Key highlights of the scheme:
– Rs.500 per person will be allocated for conducting the training/awareness program, which will cover; the ITKC, CSC or CSC- VLE (80%) and ITG (20%) charges.*
– An additional ₹100 per person will be allocated as infrastructure cost only to the CSCs and CSC-VLEs when sessions are held in accessible public venues such as Panchayat halls, School halls, halls of any religious buildings, etc.*
– The scheme is implemented by Info Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd. (ITG) and will remain valid for three years from the date of notification.
