Mumbai, June 17, 2025 — As India sees a rise in COVID-19 cases, with active cases surpassing 7,000 according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, search engine Justdial has reported a significant increase in COVID-related online queries across the country.
Data from Justdial indicates a 153% increase in nationwide COVID-related searches in May 2025 compared to April 2025. Key areas of interest include testing centres, insurance policies, and vaccination information. Both government and private testing facilities saw eightfold increases in search volume. Insurance-related queries rose by 77%, and searches for Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) vaccination centres tripled over the same period.
Delhi recorded a 140% increase in overall COVID-related searches. Government testing centre searches in the capital rose by 15 times, while searches for private centres grew tenfold. Insurance-related searches also increased by 30%.
Kerala showed a threefold increase in overall COVID-related search activity. The state reported the highest regional increase in insurance-related queries, which rose by 84%. Searches for private testing centres were 18 times higher than in April.
Mumbai reported a 94% overall rise in COVID-related searches. Insurance-related searches increased by 26%, indicating a shift in public interest toward coverage options.
Tamil Nadu saw a 72% rise in overall searches, with private testing centre queries increasing fivefold and insurance-related queries up by 30%.
The data reflects a pattern of increased public engagement with health infrastructure and services in light of the rising number of COVID-19 cases. It suggests that residents across different states are seeking information and resources to address the ongoing public health situation.
