New Delhi: Hitachi Vantara, a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., has introduced a new solution integrating Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization with its Virtual Storage Platform One (VSP One) to help organizations modernize legacy virtualization environments and reduce reliance on proprietary hypervisors.
The joint offering is designed to provide a unified hybrid cloud platform, enabling enterprises to migrate virtual machines (VMs) more easily, run VMs and containers together, and reduce costs associated with separate virtualization infrastructure. According to the announcement, the integration includes a pre-validated reference architecture and a migration tool to accelerate transitions from older platforms.
Dan McConnell, senior vice president of product management and enterprise infrastructure at Hitachi Vantara, said the collaboration aims to “simplify migration, reduce complexity, and accelerate application delivery on a modern hybrid cloud foundation.”
The new architecture leverages Hitachi’s Global Active Device technology and enhanced container storage interface (CSI) drivers to support disaster avoidance and continuous operations across multiple sites. An optional third-site quorum in public cloud or isolated locations further enhances availability zone resiliency.
Alior Bank, a European financial institution, has adopted the combined solution to modernize its IT infrastructure. “By working closely with Red Hat and Hitachi Vantara, we’ve built a unified and highly-available environment that accelerates innovation, enhances scalability, and allows us to better serve our customers,” said Piotr Krzak, the bank’s chief technology officer.
Key benefits outlined in the announcement include reduced operational costs and vendor lock-in, accelerated application delivery, enterprise-grade resilience, and enhanced automation and visibility.
Stefanie Chiras, Ph.D., senior vice president of Partner Ecosystem Success at Red Hat, said the collaboration allows customers “to reduce costs, consolidate operations, and build more resilient, cloud-native infrastructure that is ready for what’s next.”
The release marks a continuation of Hitachi Vantara and Red Hat’s collaboration, following earlier enhancements to migration toolkits designed to speed storage offloading and reduce downtime during platform transitions.
