Ahmedabad: On the occasion of International Yoga Day on Saturday, the historic town of Vadnagar in Gujarat entered the Guinness World Records by successfully organising the largest-ever mass performance of the Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana).

The record-setting initiative was organised by the Gujarat Yog Board in association with the Ministry of Ayush. Vadnagar, birthplace of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, provided a fitting and symbolic backdrop for the achievement, drawing participants from across the state.

More than 1,000 people came together at the picturesque Tana-Riri Garden in Vadnagar to perform the Bhujangasana simultaneously under the guidance of certified yoga instructors. The performance was conducted in strict adherence to the guidelines laid down by Guinness World Records, ensuring precision, synchronisation and authenticity.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and Minister of State for Home Shri Harsh Sanghavi joined the participants, performing the Cobra Pose alongside them. Their participation and encouragement played a key role in galvanising the public and reinforced the state government’s commitment to yoga and traditional wellness practices.

The successful record execution was spearheaded by Nischal Barot, a leading Guinness World Records consultant and founder of Kemi’s Connect. Mr. Barot, who has successfully executed more than 60 world records for various government and institutional clients, led a team that handled all logistical aspects, steward training, digital tracking, and real-time validation in line with Guinness World Records’ standards.

Reflecting on the accomplishment, Mr. Barot said, “Creating a Guinness World Record in a place as historically and culturally rich as Vadnagar made this moment even more special. The spirit shown by the participants, led by the state’s senior leadership, reflects their dedication to yoga and its values. This achievement belongs to the people of Gujarat.”

The feat added a proud milestone to Gujarat’s legacy in wellness promotion and showcased its commitment to promoting yoga as a means of holistic wellbeing and cultural heritage.
