Prime Video has announced March 13 as the global premiere date for its upcoming Tamil original comedy-drama series Local Times. The seven-episode series will be available in India and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide in Tamil with English subtitles.

Set against the backdrop of a local weekly newspaper navigating the shift toward a digital news landscape, the series follows four friends—Veera, Azhagu, Valli, and Muthu—who attempt to keep Namma Seidhi, a regional newspaper founded by Veera’s grandfather, running despite financial constraints and mounting challenges.

The show stars Rishikanth, Abdool Lee, Maurish Dass, Adwitha Arumugam, R. Pandiarajan, Chinni Jayanth, Rini, and Nandhitha Sreekumar. It is directed by Naveen George Thomas and produced by Jithin Thorai under the banner of Fanboy Production. The series is written by Praveen Muthurangan and created by Abbhinav Kastura along with Praveen Muthurangan, Satwik Gade, Thomas Manuel, and Visvaksen P. It has been developed by Anekdotes.

Nikhil Madhok, director and head of originals at Prime Video India, said the series highlights themes of friendship and resilience while portraying the challenges faced by a small newsroom.

Producer Jithin Thorai said the series focuses on ordinary individuals striving to preserve something meaningful, while creators Abbhinav Kastura and Praveen Muthurangan described the show as a light-hearted story blending humor with everyday struggles.

Local Times marks the directorial debut of Naveen George Thomas, who said the story centers on characters determined to hold onto their dreams and support one another despite obstacles.
