The surge points to an increasing inclination toward intercity bus travel during festive periods, influenced by factors like ease of access, quicker journeys, and better connectivity across the country. Destinations indicate a dual travel trend, with hill stations like Dehradun and Rishikesh drawing travellers, while cities in Uttar Pradesh suggest festive homecomings.
According to data from redBus, between August 5–18, 2025, Delhi has witnessed a sharp uptick in bookings compared to the same period last year, when the corresponding festive window spanned August 13–26, 2024. The city has emerged as one of India’s key departure hubs for Independence Day and Janmashtami travel, reinforcing its role as a major intercity transit point.
