New Delhi — Gazab Ghaziabad, the newest franchise in the Uttar Pradesh Kabaddi League (UPKL), announced that actor Tusshar Kapoor has joined the team as Co-owner. The franchise is owned by Lakhsya Sharma and Deepak Singh.
According to the announcement, Kapoor’s participation stems from his interest in supporting homegrown sport and contributing to the kabaddi ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh. His addition is expected to provide leadership support as the team begins its inaugural season.
“I’m excited to join Gazab Ghaziabad as Co-owner. Kabaddi continues to grow as a sport across the country, and I am happy to be a part of it,” Kapoor said. He also extended his best wishes to the UPKL team for the upcoming season.
Sharma and Singh said Kapoor joins at a formative moment for the franchise as it establishes its structure and identity. They said his approach would support players and staff as the team develops.
Aishwarya Gautam, CEO of SJ Uplift Kabaddi, said ownership participation plays a key role in the league’s long-term framework. Kapoor’s involvement reflects increasing interest from individuals looking to support the sport, she said. COO Simran Malik added that new franchises benefit from experienced contributors as they navigate early operations.
UPKL is owned by SJ Uplift Kabaddi. Season 2 will be hosted at Noida Indoor Stadium and will begin on December 24, 2025. The league has a multi-year broadcast agreement with ZEE Sports.
