New Delhi: Pet care brand Zigly, part of Cosmo First Limited, announced it will provide free anti-rabies vaccinations across its centres nationwide on September 28 to mark World Rabies Day.
The initiative aligns with the World Health Organization’s 2025 theme, “Act now: You, Me, Community,” which focuses on strengthening rabies control programs and promoting prevention.
Pankaj Poddar, Group CEO of Cosmo First, said the campaign aims to encourage responsible pet ownership and raise awareness of rabies prevention. “Our free anti-rabies drive is a testament of our steady action for encouraging responsible pet parenting and safeguarding pets from rabies,” he said in a statement.
The company cited official reports indicating that in 2024 India recorded more than 3.7 million dog bite cases and about 54 suspected rabies-related deaths, with Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat reporting the highest numbers. Children under 15 accounted for nearly one-fifth of all reported bite victims.
In recent months, Zigly has conducted vaccination drives through its outreach arm, the Zigly Foundation. Efforts included vaccinating 40 community dogs in West Patel Nagar and 25 in Kalkaji’s Aravalli Apartments, along with awareness sessions for residents on animal welfare and disease prevention.
The company said the September 28 vaccination campaign is intended to help protect pets and community animals while educating the public about rabies prevention and treatment.
