Labor market growth slows dramatically in August with U.S. adding just 54,000 jobs, ADP says

Private-sector hiring in the U.S. shrank by 54,000 in August, according to data from processing firm ADP . That's below the consensus forecast of 75,000 from economists polled by Dow Jones . Trade, transportation and utilities lost 17,000 jobs on net in August . The leisure and hospitality industry added 50,000 new jobs in the month .
