Hurun India has conferred the Hurun Industry Achievement Award 2025–26 on Benu Gopal Bangur, Chairman Emeritus of Shree Cement Limited, at the India’s Most Respected Entrepreneurs Awards. The recognition honours his contribution to India’s industrial development and his role in building the cement manufacturer into a large-scale enterprise.
Under Bangur’s leadership, Shree Cement expanded its operations with a focus on operational discipline, capital management and long-term value creation. The company now has an installed cement capacity of approximately 69 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) across India and overseas markets.
In a statement, Bangur said the award reflected the collective values and discipline of the organisation. “I accept this award not as a personal milestone, but as a reflection of the collective values and discipline that have shaped Shree Cement over the decades,” he said.
Over the past year, the company said it strengthened operational efficiency and supply chain capabilities across its integrated and grinding units to enhance cost competitiveness.
Sustainability initiatives remain a central part of its strategy. Shree Cement reported that more than 60% of its electricity requirements are met through renewable sources, supported by an installed renewable energy capacity of over 630 megawatts, including solar, wind and waste heat recovery systems.
Hurun India said the award recognises consistent execution and responsible growth under Bangur’s stewardship.
