New Delhi – The inaugural edition of the Delhi Khel Mahakumbh 2026 was launched at Chhatrasal Stadium, with cricketer and Arjuna Awardee Shikhar Dhawan serving as the event’s Brand Ambassador.

The multi-sport initiative was inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in the presence of Education and Sports Minister Ashish Sood. Addressing young participants, Dhawan spoke about the importance of structured opportunities in shaping athletes’ development and combining participation with long-term pathways.

Dhawan said he was honoured to be part of the initiative and described it as a platform that allows young athletes to build confidence and pursue their potential. He added that creating the right ecosystem is essential for long-term success and that he hopes to inspire young people to become future champions.

Da One Group, founded by Dhawan, has joined the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi as the Sports Development Partner for the event. The Delhi Khel Mahakumbh is an initiative of the Directorate of Education and Sports.

Anshita Gupta, CEO of Da One Group, said the partnership aims to support participation through mentorship systems and progression pathways, aligning with the initiative’s focus on grassroots development.

The event features thousands of young athletes competing in basketball, football, athletics, kabaddi, wrestling, squash and volleyball. Participants represent all 12 districts of Delhi. Organisers said the initiative seeks to provide competitive exposure and strengthen grassroots sporting culture in the capital.
