Mumbai : Greaves Electric Mobility (GEM), the electric mobility arm of Greaves Cotton Limited, has expanded its international presence with the launch of its flagship electric scooter, Ampere Nexus, in Nepal. The company is entering the market in partnership with STC Auto Solution Private Limited.
The Ampere Nexus is described as India’s first electric two-wheeler recognised by the Asia Book of Records for completing 70 hairpin bends of Kolli Hills in South India. The company said the scooter’s prior performance at Shipki La Pass at an altitude of 13,200 feet and at Kolli Hills at 3,900 feet supported its suitability for Nepal’s terrain and climate conditions.
According to GEM, the scooter is designed to handle steep gradients, uneven roads and high-altitude temperature variations. It features torque delivery, a stable ride setup and a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery to support uphill climbs and urban traffic conditions.
“Nepal presents a unique mobility landscape with steep-rugged terrains and intensive daily usage,” said Vikas Singh, Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of Greaves Electric Mobility. He said the Ampere Nexus has been engineered to meet these requirements and to support Nepal’s transition to electric mobility.
The scooter includes a 7-inch TFT touchscreen with navigation features, call connectivity, real-time vehicle monitoring and music control. It is supported by the Ampere Connect Companion app, which enables battery health monitoring and vehicle tracking.
GEM said it plans to expand its presence across additional markets in Nepal as part of its long-term strategy in the country.
