Mumbai: Prime Video India has expanded its entertainment offerings by launching NFDC – Cinemas of India as an add-on subscription, giving viewers access to a rich archive of critically acclaimed Indian films for just INR 199 per year.
The new subscription features a curated selection of cinematic gems from the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), showcasing works by legendary filmmakers such as Satyajit Ray, Shyam Benegal, Mira Nair, Kalpana Lajmi, and others. The collection spans multiple Indian languages and includes celebrated titles like Mirch Masala (Hindi), Ghare Baire (Bengali), Doghi (Marathi), Jameela (Tamil), Rudaali (Hindi), Gandhi (Hindi), and Bioscope (Malayalam).
Among the highlights are internationally recognized films such as Gandhi, which won multiple Academy, BAFTA, and Golden Globe Awards, and Salaam Bombay!, which earned accolades at the Cannes Film Festival and an Oscar nomination. The collection also includes Agantuk, Satyajit Ray’s final film, which won the FIPRESCI Award at Venice, and Qissa (Punjabi), honored at the Toronto International Film Festival.
