Prime Video Announces Coming-of-Age Film “Don’t Be Shy”

Mumbai – Prime Video announced a new original Hindi-language film, Don’t Be Shy, a coming-of-age romantic comedy written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji. The film is produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under Eternal Sunshine Productions, with Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani serving as co-producers.

According to the announcement, Don’t Be Shy centers on Shyamili “Shy” Das, a 20-year-old woman whose carefully planned life begins to unravel after an unexpected turn of events. The story follows her experiences as she navigates changes in relationships, personal expectations, and early adulthood.

Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video India, said the company is collaborating with Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt on the project, describing the film as a young adult story focused on friendship, love, and growing up. He noted that the narrative features a female-led perspective and includes music composed by Ram Sampath.

Alia Bhatt, co-founder of Eternal Sunshine Productions, said the production banner aims to support stories and filmmakers with distinct voices. She said the film’s coming-of-age perspective and Mukerji’s approach to the material were central to the decision to back the project. Bhatt also said the collaboration with Prime Video aligned with the company’s approach to supporting original storytelling.
